All'arco di S.Giorgio
This corner room overlooks the two sides of the village square. It is named after the nearby vault through where the Vezzanesi got to the below part of the village and then went down to the Magra river's plain. The figure of Saint Giorgio is closely linked to the religious history of the once ruling Ligurian town of Genoa: his devotional images can be found in many buildings of towns subjected to the same domination.

Junior suite della Torre Pentagonale
From this big and bright room people can enjoy the view of the below Regina Margherita Square and of the overlooking Pentagonal Tower: someone thinks it was built by Castruccio Castracani, Lord of Luni. "Pentagonam turrim mira Castruccius arte struxit, qui nulli Marte secondus erat". This striking building introduces to the remains of the ancient fortified system of Vezzano.

Del Podestà
This quite large room is situated in the "heart" of the building and is dedicated to the figure of the castellan, who represented the political and military power. He had got many arbalesters and sergeants under his control and garrisoned the castle near the present hotel: from the important and strategic military bulwark of Vezzano he could control the Magra Valley below.

Junior suite della Porpora

This large room is marked by a ceiling made of girders and planks (original of the XVI century), a hearth and two corner windows looking the side entrance of the S. Maria Assunta Church. They say that for its peculiarity once liked staying there Paolo Emilio and Ludovico Zacchia, bishops and then cardinals of Montefiascone. Here stayed quite certainly also Giovanni Battista de Nobili, who became a Genoese subject in 1528. He embarked on a political career and therefore was named "Republic's Toga". These people belonging to different epochs couldn't neglect to adorn the village: they commissioned to workers from Carrara splendid polychrome altars for the church of S. Sebastiano in Vezzano alto.

From this northwards room, some days, depending on the wind, we can hear the tolling of the bell towers of the adjoining church of Santa Maria Assunta and of the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora del Sorriso in Vezzano alto.

Junior suite Giovanni 'da Vezzano' o 'del Mare'
After a study carried out by the University of Genoa on the occasion of the Colombiadi, they have found that in August 1492 a sailor named Giovanni "Da Vezzano" (to specify his native origins) sailed from Palos together with Christopher Columbus on the Pinta caravel. This room is dedicated to him and to the atavistic virtues of our people, which contributed to the change of the whole world. This room is also named the Sea Room for its furnishing, which was really recovered from the Liguria sandy shores and from the small markets of the cost. The room has a little terrace looking the Pentagonal Tower and there is a little deconsecrated church beneath, nowadays used on Friday evenings by the village musical band. Sometimes you can hear their pleasant notes in the stillness of the village.

Degli statuti
This quite large room with a very little terrace is so called because it was the place where once the civil rules were decided and then declared in the public square. It was a very safe and peaceful place which resembled the one where the statutes were preserved. The statutes were like sacred texts, the symbols of the local freedom Vezzano's statutes of the XIV century were - together with those of the nearby Sarzana - the most organized in Lunigiana and could well regulate the administrative local life until the Napoleonic age.

Le celle
The building dates back to the XVI century: it has always represented the "heart" of Vezzano basso and in the past it housed also the Carabinieri's barracks. The present room was once a cell for evildoers, chicken thieves and drunkards. A man of Vezzano, Mario called "the cat", was shut in this cell because he abducted Angelina, a young girl from the Maggiore Lake, with who he was madly in love. He was imprisoned but... shortly after he married her. In this room we have preserved the two old air intakes with powerful bars which were once the only "outlet" for its "guests".

Junior suite Giustiniani

This quite large room with a vaulted roof is dedicated to the Oratory of the Annunciation, worshipped by the Picedi family. They bought the castle of Vezzano which stood near the present hotel: according to Count Camillo Picedi Benettini's dispositions by will it passed in 1855 to his nephews Francesco Andrea and Luigi Giustiniani. The romantic tester bed makes this room unique and charming.

Verso Le Botteghe
Barrows, wagons, horses, artisans and merchants used to travel under this corner room to go to the various markets, shops and inns of the neighbouring villages, where they traded the typical local products of Vezzano, such as oil, wine and agricultural produce.

Pieve di S.Prospero
The room is so named to remember the below old path that led to the parish, path frequently marked by religious processions which arrived to the ancient plebeian church standing on a little hill in Bottagna. It was a place where people could meet and pray but in time it has been abandoned. The Corongiola church is mentioned in a paper from Pope Innocenzo III to the Bishop of Luni where he confirms to the prelate all the parishes of his diocese.

Lord Byron
The room is dedicated to the famous poet and to his love for the sea; during his short but adventurous life, like those of many other romantic poets of that period, he liked staying in the wonderful background of the Gulf of Poets. A tablet says that Lord George Byron could swim from Portovenere to Lerici (5 miles!) to fully enjoy the beauty of the landscape.

This is another room dedicated to a writer and to his love for the sea. During his short but adventurous life P.B. Shelley often stayed in our Gulf and in 1822 - tired of wandering - he moved to Villa Magni in S. Terenzo. This room has some simple furnishings made of items "returned" by the sea.
